The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) is a worldwide organisation of Mechanical engineers with its HQ in London.

IMechE has branches in Australia, Canada, Singapore, Benelux and Hong Kong who all work to enhance the Institution’s reputation overseas and provide a service to members based outside of the UK.

Aim: 

To be the International focus of Mechanical Engineering within Australia

The worldwide membership is about 83,000 with 1,156 members in the Australian Branch.

The Australian Branch comprises Panels in the larger States of New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland and Regions in the Australian Capital Territory, the Northern Territory, Tasmania and Papua New Guinea.

Each Panel has an elected Chairman, Honorary Secretary and/or Honorary Treasurer plus Committee members and each Region has a single representative.

Panel officials are part of the Branch Committee which meets every February to coincide with the Branch Annual General Meeting and a smaller Branch Executive meets in May and October to review and plan Branch activities.
